Bactericidal Effect of Commonly Used Disinfectants in Hospital Pharmacy



Abstract
The bactericidal effect of disinfectants against clinically isolated bacteria in Asan Medical Center was investigated. Bacteria examined were Escherichig Coli. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiela pneumoniae and staphylococeus aureus which are known as one of main bacteria causing hospital infection. And also, comparative cost of disinfectants that are diluted into each effective concentration in case of soaking method were studied. Result are as follows : 0.05£¥ benzalkonium chloride and 1£¥ cresol showed the same bactericidal effect as 0.1£¥ benzalknoium chloride and 2£¥ cresol respectively. The most effective instant disinfectant was 70£¥ ethanol and 70£¥ isopropanol. It was investigated that the most effecive and economic disinfectant in 15 minute soaking method was 0.5£¥ cresol.
